Who You Are:
We are in search of a hard-working problem solver to join our organization as a Human Resources Specialist to lead the day-to-day operations of the HR department and help implement HR strategies developed by the Senior Leadership team. This role will be responsible for managing all things HR with a strong focus on payroll, recruiting, benefits, and employee support for almost 90 employees. This role is a key resource for all employees to maintain a positive and productive workplace culture while also ensuring compliance with company policies. This is an ideal opportunity for someone that wants to build relationships at all levels of the organization while having the opportunity to touch all areas within HR and build their HR skillset.
In this role, you will:
- First and foremost, resonate with our community focus and mission as an organization.
- Use your bachelor's degree in HR or a related field, SHRM-CP or PHR certification (preferred, not required!), and 3+ years of broad HR experience to continue driving our HR function forward.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for day-to-day HR operations while coordinating with the external HR partner on strategic initiatives, compliance, and complex employee relations matters.
- Apply your strong knowledge of HRIS/payroll systems, (Paylocity preferred) to effectively manage employe files and information, process payroll, and generate reports.
- Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and provide support for managers in the development of employees, documentation of employee performance, and disciplinary actions to actively assist in conflict resolution.
- Understand business needs and compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations including ADA, COBRA, ERISA, ESTA, FLSA, HIPAA, OSHA, and Title VII, to stay up to date and employ best practices in administering related processes.
- Assist managers in the recruitment process by posting the job, completing phone screens, facilitating pre-employment background checks on all prospective employees, and leading all orientation efforts.
- Support the performance review process by setting up the system and providing managers with tools for performance evaluations and employee development.
- Administer all open enrollment activities by partnering with the benefit broker to communicate changes and monitor all changes for accuracy within the HRIS.
- Maintain accurate employee records, prepare HR metrics and reports, manage documentation for audits and compliance.
- Support the UB Positive Program which is the internal employee recognition program, by helping to coordinate events and activities for employees to enhance employee engagement and foster a positive work environment.
- Work closely with employees and leadership to effectively administer leaves of absences, administer the 401(k) plan, insurance benefits, unemployment claims, and workers' compensation claims.
