JOB DESCRIPTION

 TITLE:  Accounting Coordinator
REPORTS TO:  Chief Financial Officer
Classification/FLSA Status:  Full-time, Non-exempt
LOCATION:  DreamLab, Kentwood, Michigan
GRADE:  3
SALARY RANGE:  $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
HIRING RANGE:  $23.00– $25.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY: The Accounting Coordinator supports the accounting functions of the Council.  This role is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and reliable processing of accounts payable and related accounting transactions.  This position also provides administrative and operational support to ensure efficiency, compliance, and excellent service to both vendors and employees.

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Review and verify invoices, bills, statements, and other accounting documents for accuracy; prepare for processing.
  2. Perform data entry for accounts payable, credit card transaction, accounts receivable, and cash receipting.
  3. Assist with cash posting, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
  4. Assist with Troop banking review.
  5. Maintain accurate vendor files and ensure timely payments.
  6. Assist with month-end closing process and account reconciliations
  7. Assist in preparation of annual vendor 1099s
  8. Provide documentation and support during annual audit.
  9. Provide reporting and data support for leadership and compliance requirements.
  10. Support Director of Human Resource & Governance with payroll as needed.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  2. 2-5 years’ experience in accounts payable, payroll, or general accounting.
  3. Proficiency with accounting software, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  4. Experience with Paylocity or similar payroll systems preferred.
  5. High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
  6. Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  7. Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
  8. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  9. Employment is dependent upon the results of a criminal background investigation.

 Requirements:

  1. Adherence to Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore policies and procedures.
  2. Registration as a member of Girl Scouts of the USA.
  3. Willingness to travel as job requires.
  4. Capability to provide own transportation and maintain valid operator license.
  5. Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
