Design Consultant

Job Summary
The Shade Shop is a Hunter Douglas Gallery in Grand Rapids, MI, where we offer high-end custom window treatments, drapery, and motorized patio shades. The Sales & Design Consultant will utilize the latest window treatments in design and innovation and meet the customers needs in their home or office. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for meeting with clients to create innovative design solutions that meet their needs. These appointments will range from full design consultation to a measure and finalization of existing selections. The ideal candidate will have sales and design experience in window treatments and a strong understanding of measuring window openings. We will train the right individual, but prior industry experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with clients to understand their design needs and preferences.
• Guide clients to the appropriate window treatments
• Finalize order details such as fabric, color, operating systems, specifications, etc.
• Take detailed measurements for the project
• Record client information in our CRM
• Follow up with clients regarding quotes and orders
• Conduct site visits for building under construction
• Coordinate with contractors and integrators on hard-wired projects
• Place product orders with our vendors
• Coordinate installation with the client and our team

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a construction-related design or sales role.
• Proficiency in using tape measures, laser measures, and renderings.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial construction as it pertains to windows.
• Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Salesforce preferred.
• Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and stand for extended periods on construction sites.
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in design execution.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration.
• A creative mindset with the ability to visualize design concepts in a practical application.
