We are seeking a Director of Finance and Accounting responsible for technical expertise and leadership of the financial operations of the organization. The Director of Finance and Accounting oversees daily operations of the accounting, claims and reimbursement, and registration and billing units.  This includes general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing, accounts receivable, claims reimbursement, billing, treasury functions, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal and external financial compliance. The person in this position will actively engage as strategic partner across the organization.

 

 

This position is full-time, exempt, from Monday through Friday, during office business hours. A flexible hybrid working arrangement is available for this position. The employee may perform work from a home office or work site during regular business hours. 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least seven years of progressively more responsible accounting and/or finance experience. 
  • At least three years of leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of the application of accounting principles as they apply to maintaining financial control and accounting records.
  • Knowledge of management principles and administrative techniques.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting and budgeting principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, methods, and terminology.
  • Advanced computer skills including word processing, Excel spreadsheets, database management, email, and financial software.
  • Ability to prepare financial statements and analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Ability to detect discrepancies in financial and accounting records.
  • Ability to present financial data in a clear and understandable manner to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to prioritize in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work independently and use professional discretion and judgment to make decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent problem-solving techniques.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in the community mental health industry.
  • Exposure to medical billing and claims management within behavioral health or healthcare settings, including knowledge of Medicaid and commercial insurance reimbursement processes, denial management, and compliance with payer-specific billing requirements.
  • CGFM, CPA, or CMA certification.
  • Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
