Who You Are:
ArtPrize is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our leadership team. The Controller will oversee all financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. This is a key leadership role that supports strategic decision-making and helps steward the financial sustainability of the organization.

What You'll Do:

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and dashboards for leadership and board review.
  • Manage the annual audit and ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit reporting standards (FASB/ASC 958).
  • Coordinate and prepare annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with senior leadership.

Grants & Fund Management

  • Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with grant requirements and donor restrictions.
  • Prepare financial documents for grant proposals, grant administration, documentation, and reporting.

Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain and improve internal controls, financial procedures, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with IRS, state, and local tax filings, including the Form 990.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide financial insight and support to program managers and department heads.
  • Act as liaison to the Board of Directors Finance Committee.
  • Manage onsite POS operations including concessions, merchandise, and ticketing.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional accounting experience, at least 2 years in a non-profit or arts-related organization preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and financial compliance for 501(c)(3) organizations.
  • Experience with grants and public/private funding streams, including donor and government reporting.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms).
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to communicate financial information to non-financial audiences.
  • Proficiency working within cloud-based systems
  • Passion for the arts and alignment with the mission and values of ArtPrize.
  • Experience working in onsite, large capacity, events or performance environments preferred.
