Summary: This position oversees the operation of the scene shop, including the construction of scenery for Theatre productions in the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance. This role provides set up and construction, and some technical support for the Louis Armstrong Theatre and Linn Maxwell Keller Black Box Theatre. This is a 9 month, academic year position.
Primary Duties
Oversee all scene shop activities, including the care and maintenance of all tools and equipment and enforcement of operational and safety standards. Point person in the scene shop for all mainstage productions requiring set construction. Provide supervision of student laborers in the scene shop for the construction of scenery for all mainstage productions and student productions. Assist the Technical Director in providing technical support to performances and events in the Louis Armstrong Theatre, and the Linn Maxwell-Keller Black Box Theatre. Provide technical support to the Music and Dance programs as needed. Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Bachelor's degree.
• Working knowledge of theatre and scene shop safety practices.
• Working knowledge of scenic construction techniques and best practices.
• Familiarity with the use and safe operation of light industrial and contractor grade power, pneumatic, and welding tools.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• At least four (4) years of experience in constructing theatre scenery and technical production.
• A degree in the performing arts.
• Experience collaborating with professional staff and faculty.
• Excellent time management, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Salary: Minimum starting salary of $35,568.
