This position is responsible for providing overall strategic budget planning and financial modeling within the Division of GVSU Omni, and is a key member of the division's leadership team. Division budget portfolio includes general, designated, restricted and reserves funds, as well as grant funds. This position will independently perform a variety of high-level, complex administrative and business functions in support of division and university operations and objectives and in accordance with University, State, and Federal policy. The position works in coordination with GVSU Omni leadership, stakeholders in other divisions, and particularly University Development, the Office of Sponsored Programs, and the Division of Finance.
Salary & Benefits:
Minimum starting salary of $75,000 commensurate with experience.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Direct comprehensive budget and financial planning within the Division. This includes connecting strategic plans and missions of the University, Division, and assigned departments.
• Monitor budgets using trend analysis and forecasting. Prepare quarterly financial reports including year-end projections. Report budget variances to Division leadership as well as Business and Finance.
• Collaborate with and provide information to Business and Finance related to the development of financial reports submitted to the Board of Trustees.
• Oversee financial planning processes related to short- and long-term projects. Ensure incorporation of capital and maintenance plans into annual budget processes.
• Assist in interpreting directives of the senior leadership of the University related to financial processes, goals, and objectives.
• Make recommendations to Division leadership to ensure financial sustainability. Ensure adequate funding is available to meet Division and strategic priorities.
• Manage Division financial activities and structure. Develop system and procedure requirements to support financial reporting and limit financial risk.
• Ensure proper fiscal policies and procedures are followed. Ensure compliance with State policies and University mission, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and budget. Advise department staff on courses of action and compliance with purchasing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable activities.
• Superintend development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, programs, and internal controls related to the continuous improvement of Division of GVSU Omni. Work collaboratively with Business and Finance and other pertinent campus partners to promote sound fiscal practices and processes. Ensure processes and reports reflect accuracy and integrity.
• Provide professional training recommendations and support to ensure financial competency and continuous professional education for Division staff.
• Model a safe, dynamic, and inclusive culture of exemplary service and learning.
• Serves on University and Division committees as requested.
• Performs other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Bachelor's degree and a minimum of four (4) years' related experience
• Experience with budgeting cycles, budget development, financial management, financial modeling and operational forecasting.
• Strategic planning and leadership skills.
• Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to complete projects on a timely basis and to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with students, faculty, and staff.
• Excellent analytical abilities to assess complex financial information.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Ability to work without functional supervision.
• Experience with accounting/budgeting systems.
• Management experience preferred.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• CPA preferred.
• Master's degree preferred (MBA or related field).
• Experience in higher education preferred.
• Experience with fund accounting preferred.
