Position Summary:

This position is an integral part of the Thompson and Charter Scholars team, connecting students to high-impact learning opportunities, including community service, internships, co-ops, undergraduate research, and study abroad. This position will also serve as a success coach, assisting students in personalized career planning and exploration, developing leadership skills, and building career-related skills.

Salary & Benefits:

$45,000-$50,000, commensurate with experience.

Primary Duties:

• Develop programming to help connect Thompson and Charter Scholars to high-impact learning opportunities such as internships, co-ops, undergraduate research, and study abroad.

• Coordinate volunteer opportunities for Thompson and Charter Scholars, which includes collaborating with the Office of Student Life and external partners.

• Track and manage the volunteer requirement for Thompson Scholars.

• Provide academic success coaching through regular individual meetings with Thompson and Charter Scholars, assisting students in personalized career planning and exploration, developing leadership skills, and building career-related skills.

• Assist work study students with finding on-campus employment.

• Collaborate often with others on campus that support the Thompson & Charter Scholars. This includes working with a variety of offices, including Enrollment Development, Support Services, University Development, Office of Student Life, the Padnos International Center, University Communications, Institutional Marketing, and others.

• Work closely with the Thompson and Charter Scholars teams to assist with any planning and executing of academic, professional, social, and community events for the Thompson & Charter Scholars.

• Perform other duties as required/assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Bachelor's Degree.

• Minimum three (3) years of experience working with high school or college students, particularly through pre-college or academic support programs.

• Strong presentation, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, and staff at all levels in a complex and diverse environment.

• Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to diversity and a solid understanding of and appreciation for cultural, ethnic, and individual differences.

• Detail oriented.

• Ability to work with large amounts of data/information.

• Strong customer service skills.

• Ability to work independently, while also working well in a team environment.

• Familiarity with database software.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.

• Ability to work evenings and weekend hours as needed.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Familiarity with major university data systems (Workday, Banner, and OnBase).

• Knowledge of requirements under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

• Experience working in or collaborating with recruitment and admissions, financial aid, and student success coaching in high school or higher education settings.

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment. Some travel may be required. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
