We manufacture injection molding/plastic products for automotive, office furniture, polymer compounding, waste and recycling industries.

Cascade Engineering has opening on our 2nd shift as Production Team Leader; known internally as “C-Admins”. In this role, you would support/be the right hand to the Front Line Leader and the plant in meeting production requirements. You will focus on developing Operators, managing and facilitating daily operational activities to ensure a safe, and efficient and effective work environment. You would be responsible for ensuring quality standards are being met, ensuring the compliance of Flow Cell Certification, and for maintaining production flow. 

Location: West Plant (5055 36th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512)

Shift: 3pm - 11:10pm (Monday through Friday with some weekends)

Target Pay: $21.30 (includes shift premium) plus quarterly bonus incentive

 **Pay increase effective October 6, 2024 to $22.30/hour (includes shift premium) plus quarterly bonus incentive

What You'll Be Doing

Plant Focus: As a C-Admin you’ll be responsible for supporting your production team by ensuring completion of the daily production schedule as planned, verifying defects and properly reporting them into our operations system. You will routinely perform first piece approvals, ensure color checks are complete, perform poke-yoke checks, perform final inspections, change over work cells, and create a report at the end of your shift regarding production goals

Continuous Improvement: As a C-Admin you’ll work with our lean department in the support and establishment of flow cell certifications.  You’ll utilize lean principles to improve effectiveness and efficiency in production, as well as updating and utilizing lean documents and information as required within the flow cell

Quality, Quality, Quality: You will ensure a high level of quality in products being produced and sent out to customers, making sure specifications and requirements are met

Production Collaboration: You will be responsible for ensuring the production floor is running smoothly. This will include having to step in on a machine while an operator is on break, jump on a Hilo to move finished goods to the shipping and receiving areas and help Front Line Leaders manage production and staff

Safety Mindset: You'll ensure a safe working environment for all employees and visitors by safely utilizing tools (knives, nippers, etc.) and secondary equipment.  This ensures we produce high quality products; you’ll be responsible for knowing and communicating to others how to use Personal Protective Equipment, proper lifting techniques, safety around conveyors, how to safely use torches.  Providing a clean and organized work environment is also essential for a safe work environment

Administrative Tasks: You will regularly use our operations systems to check inventory, support team in unplanned issues as they arise, transfer products or components, queue up the next job, enter downtime, read bill of materials, and scrap out components and parts

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years manufacturing/machine operator experience
  • A minimum of one year experience in a leadership or related role, informal or formal team support
  • The ability to hold others accountable to policies, procedures and performance expectations
  • The ability to stand for 8-12 hours a day
  • The ability to communicate effectively in front of small groups
  • The ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize effectively
  • The ability to use a computer including Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)
  • The ability to read and follow written work instructions
  • Some positions require lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Valid Driver’s license or be able to use all 4 limbs such as arms, legs (upper and lower limbs), torso/trunk at the shoulder. Have coordination of eyes, hands and feet. Not have any known/documented convulsive disorders and corrected vision (obtain doctor’s note verifying proof of the corrected vision)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with sit-down Forklift / Hilo's
